Q2 - ENGAGEMENT & DISTRIBUTION

HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT ENGAGE WITH AUDIENCES AND HOW WOULD IT BE DISTRIBUTED AS REAL MEDIA TEXT?

I've decided to firstly answer this question, as all the others, in an essay format, then showcase it through a creative outlet, which you can see at the end of the post.

INTERACTION/AUDIENCE

As Flair Magazine is a new magazine on the market, audience interaction is key to growing a healthy base of buyers, and since we’d also want the magazine to have a printed version together with the online version, we will have to have a very smart and creative approach towards the advertisement and distribution of our magazine, as the print industry is falling at a pace that we will have to keep up with.

Since our magazine is meant to perform on online platforms too, we decided to create an Instagram account where we could interact with the audience daily, showing behind the scenes, creating content featuring guests, sneak peeks into our upcoming issues and much more free content. This would be a great channel for advertising as it’s easily accessible and discoverable by new potential customers, can easily give insight into the final product we are selling (that being the final issues) and can help us engage with the audience in many ways, such as the story polls and questions, lives and much more. Also, by constantly putting content out there, we will be exposing ourselves to a constantly growing number of people.

Moreover, we could create a youtube account where we could have interviews with relevant guests and create content for free that would attract new viewers and constantly put something out there to keep our audience engaged, as issues do not appear very often, so we would have to make sure that our buyers stay interested in our product. A great example of this is Vogue Magazine and their youtube channel, it’s something that has helped them grow immensely and, to me personally, is very entertaining. We could have for example a series of videos such as Vogue's 73 questions, where they ask celebrities 73 random questions about themselves, filmed in one take so it’s much more personal.

Furthermore, we could create an email subscription-based newsletter, where we could send an email weekly where we share what’s new in the fashion industry and news that might be relevant in today's world and to our audience. Also, we could share some creations, outfits etc that our viewers send us, in this way we would show the audience that we support them and create an effective connection by creating opportunities such as these, so they can feel involved, appreciated and believed in.

To grow as a team, business and project, we have to get feedback from various sources, the most important being our audience. We could ask them through several channels mentioned above what they like/dislike, if they have tips, concerns, or ideas so that we can shape our magazine in a way that keeps them engaged and attracts more and more potential faithful readers, as after all, our audience is what drives us further and keeps this project alive.

ADVERTISEMENT/PROMOTION & DISTRIBUTION

Regarding advertising, I think it goes hand in hand with audience interaction as the ultimate goal is to grow your audience through various methods, one being advertising and promotion. A lot of it will be done through the channels I’ve mentioned above, as many of them have features that allow you to sponsor your posts, to reach a higher number of users.

Also, another efficient advertising method would be having brand ambassadors, people that we think are influential and fit with our brand’s vision, and that would bring on customers that we think fit our buyer persona so that they would be long term customers and faithful to our brand. Moreover, since our magazine is in English, that could be considered as one of the unique selling points for our magazine, as our market is now global, rather than national.

Through the issues, we might have different editorials that could be focused on a particular brand so ultimately advertisements might be included in the magazine so that could be another source of revenue for us.

Our main idea regarding the distribution of the magazine would be through different stores (book stores, gas stations etc) and online outlets. Since I’ve discussed about advertising strategies above, that can be easily linked with distribution, as it helps us distribute to a larger audience. We are planning to create a simple website where the issues can be previewed and through which the magazine can be bought, at a lower price than the printed version, that being because the production process is cheaper and quicker this way. Regarding the price for the printed version, we were thinking that 5 euros would be appropriate, that being for multiple reasons. Firstly, we’ve researched other magazines and got an idea of the prices on the market, which were mostly lower than 5 euros, but since our magazine will not focus primarily on advertisements we will have to gain our revenue from other sources, so a higher price is justifiable. Moreover, since we created our Instagram page, it turned out more efficient and we’ve had more success than expected, and we already have people asking if they could collaborate with us.
